"BA Glass Romania will invest €70 million in a new state-of-the-art furnace in Bucharest and a new 25,000 square metre warehouse".

Portugal’s BA Glass will invest over €1 billion in its 12 factories in the next five years, €150 million of which in Romania, according to data released on Monday by AICEP Portugal Global.

According to Portugal’s Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (AICEP), “BA Glass Romania will invest €70 million in a new state-of-the-art furnace in Bucharest and a new 25,000 square metre warehouse”.

“This new investment will ensure additional capacity for BA Glass customers in that country, and is expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2023,” it advances.

In parallel, the company – the largest operator in Portugal in the production of glass packaging and bottles – has “another project for the construction of another oven, of greater capacity, also in Bucharest, which should be ready in 2025”, it adds.

Currently, BA Glass (formerly known as Barbosa & Almeida) is the only glass packaging manufacturer in Romania, producing about two million bottles a day and aiming, with these new investments in the country, to double production capacity to four million in the next three years.
