The French company's goal is to reach 450 000 clients in Portugal in five years and to open 2,500 sale points.

The BNP Paribas subsidiary Nickel arrived in the Portuguese market, already having over 100 sale points in the country. The aim is to reach 450,000 customers and 2,500 points of sale in five years, the company announced.

In a statement, João Guerra, CEO of Nickel in Portugal, explained that customers must pay an annual payment account maintenance fee of €20, plus 80 cents in Stamp Tax. However, there is no minimum opening amount and no mandatory domiciliation of wages.

“We want to help create a transformative future, with a strong focus on innovation and customer experience, contributing not only to the financial inclusion of the population but also to the re-approach of regions where access to financial infrastructures is limited,” said João Guerra.

Nickel already has almost three million customers and is also available in France, Spain, Belgium and, soon, Germany.
